Oklahoma State vs Texas Predictions NCAAF Week 7 | College Football Pick of the Day

Last Updated: Oct 14, 2021

In a battle between two ranked teams, the (12) Oklahoma State Cowboys will head to Austin to take on the (25) Texas Longhorns in NCAAF Week 7 action. Oklahoma State remains unbeaten on the year at 5-0, while Texas sits at 4-2 with both losses coming against ranked opponents, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Oklahoma State has been one of the pleasant surprises of the 2021 college football season as Mike Gundy’s squad currently sits atop the Big 12 standings alongside Oklahoma as the only two unbeaten teams in the conference. The Cowboys have had the luxury of playing four of their first five games at home, though, and have yet to face an opponent of Texas’s caliber.

Texas had a tougher schedule to start the season as the Longhorns had to go to Arkansas and TCU before facing Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown at the Cotton Bowl last week. The Longhorns jumped out to a 21-point first-quarter lead against the Sooners and led by 18 at halftime, but couldn’t hold on as Oklahoma rallied for a thrilling 55-48 win.

Despite being on the fringes of the AP Top 25, Texas is no slouch and should hang tough with Oklahoma State in Austin.

Oklahoma State vs Texas Prediction

I envision a very close battle between the Cowboys and Longhorns in this one.

Texas is coming off an upsetting loss for the locker room, but Steve Sarkisian’s group will have plenty of positives to take from that game, especially on offense.

The Longhorns are more battle-tested, but Oklahoma State might have the better overall team. The Cowboys’ defense is superb, having held all five of its opponents this season to under 24 points, and could slow down Texas’s high-octane offense.

I’m expecting the Longhorns to bounce back into the win column on Saturday.

Betting Pick: Texas 33, Oklahoma State 27

Oklahoma State vs Texas Best Bets

Best Bet: Texas -4.5 (-110) at BetMGM

Wager: 1 Unit

I believe in Texas more than most people might. The 4.5-point spread is a very sharp one, in my opinion, but if I had to pick a side, I would go with the Longhorns at home.

The market is heavy on the Cowboys as of this writing, with 92% of the money currently on Oklahoma State. If you’re into fading a heavily-backed underdog, betting on the Longhorns might be play for you.

Best Bet: Texas +3.5 & Under 66.5 (-105) at BetMGM

Wager: 1 Unit

I don’t normally recommend teasers in college football because of the high variance involved, but I like making my own here as a Same Game Parlay.

I expect the Longhorns to win this game outright, so getting just over a field goal on the spread is a nice cushion for our bet.

The total is a bit more interesting considering these teams play vastly different styles of football. Oklahoma State plays some of the most low-scoring games in the country, while Texas is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum.

Still, I like the under at an adjusted number of 66.5, given that I view the line as being pretty sharp at 60 points.
