Brewers Moneyline (-160) at BetMGM

One of the 2021 season’s best starting pitchers, right-hander Corbin Burnes, will take the mound for the Brewers in Game 1 of the NLDS. The Brewers are the favorite to win Game 1 and for good reason. After a close battle in the middle of the season for the NL Central division title, the Brewers were red-hot down the stretch and had the division virtually locked up by September.

The Braves, a great team in their own right, will have veteran Charlie Morton on the mound in Game 1. Morton is battle-tested and is no stranger to moments like these, having put the finishing touches on the Houston Astros’ Game 7 win in the 2017 World Series.

Backing the better pitcher is always the simple play and I’m backing Burnes here.

Dodgers Moneyline (-120) at BetMGM

The Giants and Dodgers will face each other in the postseason for the first time in their illustrious histories. One of the biggest storylines in the league’s waning weeks was the battle for the NL West, which the San Francisco Giants ultimately won. The Dodgers are still regarded as the best team in the sport, despite not winning their division, as evidenced by the current World Series odds.

Los Angeles will turn to Walker Buehler in this one and the Giants will have standout Logan Webb to counter. Both pitchers were excellent in 2021 and it’s entirely likely that both pitchers rise to the occasion. Buehler has shattered postseason records to this point in his big-league career and has earned the moniker of a ‘big-game pitcher’. Game 1 will be pivotal in this series that figures to go longer than the minimum three games.

Rays Moneyline (-140) at BetMGM

After taking down the Red Sox in Game 1, the Rays will look to take a convincing 2-0 lead in the ALDS. I’m backing them to do that here.

Red Sox starter Chris Sale is a serious threat, but the Rays have the bullpen depth and flame-throwing arms to get it done. The Rays’ offense has gotten to Sale this year as he surrendered 16 hits across 9 and 2/3 innings against Tampa across two starts. Shane Baz might not be experienced, but his stuff is off-the-charts good and should stand up in a playoff setting against a Red Sox lineup that was non-existent in Game 1.

White Sox +1.5 (-185) at BetMGM

The Astros won Game 1 of this series handily, but I don’t expect the same result in Game 2. The White Sox will be sending Lucas Giolito to the hill to square off with Framber Valdez of the Astros. This White Sox team is too good against left-handed pitching to falter to Valdez, in my opinion. Even if the White Sox don’t win outright, the game should at least be close and the White Sox +1.5 affords them a one-run cushion.

ALDS & NLDS Parlay (+686) at BetMGM

At +686 odds, this MLB bet of the day has tremendous value. The MLB playoffs typically come down to pitching strength and each of these picks are indicative of that. In all four picks, I not only backing the better starting pitcher, but also the better pitching staff as a collective unit.
