January 23 NBA Prop Bet Tips

Picks in this article

Brandon Ingram, SF, New Orleans Pelicans at Minnesota Timberwolves

Under 23.5 points (-125)

Wager: 0.5 unit (win would pay 0.90)

Ingram started the season off incredibly hot, averaging nearly 25 points per night in the team’s first five games. But over the last few weeks, he’s cooled off as his point total has dropped to 20.2. Even against the Jazz on Thursday night, he started the game off with a 10-point first quarter but managed just 13 points the rest of the game. New Orleans has just too many other scoring options right now for Ingram to average 25 a night, even with an improved jump shot.

He could still be in for a big night against the Timberwolves on Saturday as they have one of the league’s worst defenses. However, look for Ingram to come under the 23.5 point total set for him as he’s just not consistent enough to average 25 a night. Instead, look for him to score between 18-22 points on Saturday in this Western Conference matchup.

Donovan Mitchell, SG, Utah Jazz vs. Golden State Warriors

Most points scored (+165)

Wager: 0.5 unit (win would pay 1.32)

Mitchell is coming off a fantastic game against the New Orleans Pelicans in which he scored 36 points and added seven rounds and five assists. Still, it wasn’t enough for the TNT crew as Shaquille O’Neal called him out during the post-game interview. It was awkward and put Mitchell in a tough place as he needed to defend himself on national television against one of the all-time great players.

Don’t be surprised if Mitchell uses that negative criticism for motivation in this game as the Jazz are set to take on the Golden State Warriors. Mitchell is a +165 favorite to lead this game in scoring and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him go off on Saturday night. He’s already averaging 24.3 points per game this season, but over the last nine games, that has risen to 27.1 a night. Look for the All-Star guard to dominate this game and potentially go for 30 or more once again.

Anthony Davis, PF, Los Angeles Lakers at Chicago Bulls

Over 0.5 threes made (-160)

Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 1.63)

This is a fairly straight-forward bet as all Anthony Davis needs to do is make one three-point shot against the Bulls for this to hit on Saturday night. Despite Coach Vogel wanting Davis to take more three-point shots this season, his attempts have actually dropped down to 2.6 per game through 14 games. However, his make percentage has gone up as he is now shooting 35 percent from long range.

Davis is actually coming off a rough outing against the Bucks from Thursday night as he scored just 18 points on 18 shots. Expect him to be much better on Saturday as they will take on the Bulls in Chicago. The Lakers actually have an undefeated record on the road this season and expect Davis to bounce back in a big way in this matchup. He should be a lock to make a three-point shot despite not making one since January 12 against the Rockets.
