Kyle Gibson, SP, Philadelphia Phillies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (7:05 p.m. ET)

Gibson has really struggled over his last five outings with a 5.40 ERA, 1.63 WHIP, and a 21/18 K:BB ratio across 30 innings. That does not bode well against a Dodgers lineup that ranks fourth in wRC+ (128) this month.
Even with the Phillies are playing great baseball right now, this matchup may unravel quickly for Gibson against an opponent that can score runs in bunches. Not only could he get a quick hook, but he is not a strikeout pitcher to begin with, averaging just 4.9 strikeouts per start this year. He’s been below this line in three of his last four starts, and that’s where I think he’ll end up against this dangerous lineup.

Cal Quantrill, SP, Cleveland Indians vs. Oakland Athletics (7:10 p.m. ET)

Quantrill has really turned it on over his last five starts with 28 strikeouts in 30 innings, not to mention a 0.90 ERA and .181 opponent batting average. He’s coming off a season-high 10 punchouts in his most recent start where he twirled seven shutout innings against the Detroit Tigers, so it’s surprising to see this prop line so low.
Quantrill’s incredible run also includes a strong outing against the A’s in Oakland where he pitched five innings of one-run ball and struck out five. Another encouraging sign for the 26-year-old is that he’s completed at least six innings in five of his last six starts, giving him a solid floor. After hitting this over in four of his last five starts, he should be able to do it again tonight.
