January 14 NBA Bets: 76ers will cover large spread at Heat
January 14 NBA Bets: NBA Thursday is always fun to bet given the shorter slates, and 1/14/21 NBA Bet Tips picks look like they’ll be wild with the small sample. The league is postponing games left-and-right due to COVID-related issues.
We are very much so still in the midst of a pandemic. These players’, coaches, staff, families, etc. safety is of the utmost importance and any decision made would be in the best interest of health. It is unfortunate that any of this is occurring by all means, but it is our reality. Take every bit of advice with a grain of salt knowing that a quarantine announcement or postponement could occur in an instant.
Today’s slate is a lot more appealing than in past weeks which is why there are two units attached to each bet. Take advantage if possible and make of the wager what you will. These are the best bets with the assumption of games being played today.
All odds were obtained from PointsBet and are current as of Thursday at 4 p.m. ET.
January 14 NBA Bet Tips
Philadelphia 76ers -10.5 (-110) at Miami Heat
Wager: 2 units (win would pay 3.82)
MIA @ PHI | 01/14, 7:30 PM
Miami Heat? More like Miami Deplete. This team will play another game without their star corps of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. While they may have looked competent in their most recent outing against the 76ers and lost by seven in overtime, this game should be a lot different.
Tobias Harris is available to play and that is more than enough to swing a double-digit win over the Miami B-team. Ben Simmons played arguably one of his worst games of the season despite what the stat-line suggests and Danny Green was uncharacteristically forced to take over 20 shots. Look for the Sixers to have more control of the Heat today.
Houston Rockets +7 (-110) vs. San Antonio Spurs
Wager: 2 units (win would pay 3.82)
HOU @ SAS | 01/14, 8:30 PM
The Rockets (3-6) just traded away the face of their franchise and are coming into San Antonio (6-3) as rightful underdogs. Eric Gordon is out and they do not have Victor Oladipo available yet. Nevertheless, this is a statement game. The Rockets still have Christian Wood playing at a high level and there really isn’t anyone on this middling Spurs team that can stop him or DeMarcus Cousins who has been getting more involved.
While I am not confident enough in the Rockets here to take the money-line, there is enough belief that they will not kowtow and this game will remain competitive. DeMar DeRozan is available to play for the first time this week and that is a major factor in passing on the Rockets straight up.
Golden State Warriors at Denver Nuggets OVER 225 (-115)
Wager: 2 units (win would pay 3.74)
SAS @ OKC | 01/12, 8:00 PM
The Nuggets are 4th in the NBA in offensive rating and the Warriors run at the 3rd-highest pace in the league. This is a recipe for points to be scored. The Warriors might be towards the bottom of the league in offense but they still have Steph Curry, Kelly Oubre is playing better and the team as a whole has looked competent since Draymond Green’s return. Green is a huge piece of the offense despite his numbers given his ability to act as a complementary ball-handler and initiator.
Nikola Jokic is playing at an MVP-level and will have his way with struggling rookie James Wiseman who is averaging a foul-out per-36 minutes played. Draymond has no real chance with him inside or out due to the size mismatch, leaving Jokic to continue his dominance.. Curry will have his way with the weak perimeter defense of Denver that could be without Gary Harris once again. Denver is 25th in defensive rating at the moment and will be exploited further by the Warriors tonight.
Kev Mahserejian is 9-9 (+4u) on his NBA betting picks in 2020-2021.
