Ezekiel Elliott 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook
Like most members of the Dallas Cowboys, Elliott had a down year in 2020. His 979 rushing yards, 4.0 rushing yards per attempt, and eight total touchdowns were all career worsts, while his yards per game average decreased for the fourth consecutive season.
From the moment last season began, Elliott looked out of sorts. With Dallas leaning more on its passing game between Dak Prescott and its wide receiver trio of Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup, Elliott saw a decreased role on the ground. Prescott’s season-ending injury and the Cowboys’ horrendous defense didn’t help, either, limiting their ability to move the ball downfield and often forcing them to abandon the run early.
Prescott’s return will give Dallas a much-needed shot of life, Elliott included. He’ll once again be the bell cow in what figures to be one of the NFL’s most potent offenses, as the Cowboys don’t have anyone in the backfield who would seriously eat into his workload. He still has a sizable role in the passing game as well and should be able to finish with over 1,500 yards from scrimmage and double-digit touchdowns.
Ezekiel Elliott 2021 Fantasy Football Draft Value (PPR)
Even without Prescott under center for much of last season, Elliott still finished as a top-10 RB in PPR leagues. With Prescott back in the fold this year, Elliott has top-5 upside and remains a worthy first-round draft pick. He’s currently going seventh in preseason drafts as the RB7, but there’s a case for him going a bit earlier than that if you prefer his track record over Jonathan Taylor and Saquon Barkley.
