Happy Parlay Friday, everybody! Let’s get after it with a big 3-leg NRFI parlay. Yesterday’s NRFI was rained out, so we’re adding it to the parlay instead. Taijuan Walker seems to be the likely replacement for Jacob deGrom in the All-Star game, and for good reason. His 2.44 ERA is among the best in baseball, giving me positive vibes about him shutting down the Pirates in the 1st. On the other end, JT Brubank has been Pittsburgh’s most consistent starter this year. He shouldn’t have too much trouble keeping the Mets at zero for the opening frame. Miami pitcher Zach Thompson has steadily been one of the more reliable arms in the Marlins’ pitching staff, sporting a 2.25 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. He’ll go up against Atlanta’s Charlie Morton — someone that’s been getting it done forever it seems like. While betting on a NRFI parlay that includes the Braves’ lineup is daunting, I think Thompson gets it done right after Morton shuts down Miami’s hitters. Then to round things out, Cincy’s Wade Miley squares off against Eric Lauer. If this wasn’t in Milwaukee, I’d be a little more scared of Lauer against the Reds’ bats. But away from home, the Reds are a different team.
