Here is our best MLB Betting Pick of the Day, including the Best Baseball Pick Today 7/8/21. All odds for July 8 MLB bet picks were obtained from PointsBet.
The Boston Red Sox fell one run shy of cashing yesterday’s over 4.5 runs ticket, which really hurt given that they failed to bring home a runner from second with no outs in the eighth. Tough luck for us, but we’re back today with another best bet.

MLB Betting Pick of the Day: Best Baseball Pick Today 7/8/21
Cincinnati Reds @ Milwaukee Brewers (8:10 p.m. ET)
- Probable Pitchers: CIN: RHP Tyler Mahle | MIL: RHP Adrian Houser
Over 2 Runs In The 1st 5 Innings (-115)
Wager: 1.10 units
The Milwaukee Brewers are 52-36 and easily the best team in the NL Central at this point. The Cincinnati Reds are in second place at 45-41 largely thanks to their potent offense, which leads the National League in hits and ranks second in runs scored and OPS.
Milwaukee’s Adrian Houser will try to tame Cincinnati’s hot lineup tonight. He’s been knocked around a bit lately, posting a 5.09 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP over his last three starts.
Digging deeper, some of Houser’s peripherals may explain his recent poor performance. Over the last 30 days, Houser has allowed a .174 ISO to righties and a .376 wOBA to lefties. He’s also striking out just 15.8 percent of batters and walking nearly 10 percent of batters while giving up a 34.3 percent hard-contact rate during that span.
Houser has also struggled mightily against lefties this year, allowing them to hit .294/.353/.441 against him. That doesn’t bode well for him against the Reds, who will likely have at least four lefties in their lineup tonight, including Jesse Winker (5 HR in 16 AB vs. Houser) and Joey Votto (1.189 OPS vs. Houser).
It’s not just the lefties in Cincy’s lineup who have had success against Houser, either. Eugenio Suárez has homered twice in 15 at-bats against him, while Nick Castellanos is 6-for-17 with three extra-base hits.
All things considered, three runs in the first five innings against Houser is very doable. Even if the Reds score just two runs in the first five innings, the wager becomes a push and we live for another day.
