The Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning clash in Game 1 in Tampa Bay on Monday night. The opener expects to feature a good deal of Brayden Point as the forward combines a specific set of skills that figures to frustrate Montreal’s team defense.
This player prop is at nearly even money for a reason. Point is that good. There are few forwards in the NHL that can score from within five feet of a net as effectively as the center can. Lightning To Win Game 1 In Regulation (-120)
Tampa Bay comes in at -120 on Monday night against Montreal, making them the slight favorites at home. Joel Armia being placed in COVID protocol for Montreal has made little impact on the Game 1 odds, and Nikita Kucherov looks like he is healing well enough.
Tampa Bay will not be nervous like Toronto was or get frustrated as Vegas did later in their series. The Lightning are a different animal and defeated Carey Price twice before in the playoffs (2014 and 2015). Price and Montreal are better now than they were then, but so is Tampa Bay.
Accordingly, we’re going with the Lightning to win Game 1 in regulation. The moneyline at -200 is an easier pick, but this game is expected not to go beyond 60 minutes.
