MLB Betting Pick of the Day: Best Baseball Pick Today 6/17/21
New York Yankees @ Toronto Blue Jays (7:07 p.m. ET)
- Yankees @ Blue Jays 6/17/21 Game Preview
- Probable Pitchers: RHP Michael King (NYY) vs. RHP T.J. Zeuch (TOR)
Over 5.5 runs scored in the first five innings (-125)
Wager: 1 unit
New York will look to finish off the sweep after taking the first two games of this series against Toronto. Given the lackluster quality of both starting pitchers, this game could quickly turn into a slugfest in the Blue Jays’ hitter-friendly home park.
T.J. Zeuch will be on the mound for Toronto, and he’s been terrible this year. A 6.75 ERA, 9.33 FIP, and 1.92 WHIP tell you all you need to know. He also hasn’t pitched in the majors since April 18, so he could be a bit rusty.
The Yankees, on the other hand, are tapping Michael King, who has a 6.35 ERA over his last three starts while filling in for the injured Corey Kluber.
Given the high-powered lineups and offensive talent on both sides, I’m not expecting either starter to last long in a hitting-friendly environment. Zeuch has yet to complete five innings in a start this year, while King has only done so twice.
After a slow start offensively, New York’s batters have finally come around and are averaging 4.54 runs per game in June. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays rank near the top of the league in numerous hitting categories and are scoring 4.86 runs per game this month. Toronto has been especially dangerous against righties with a .249 ISO and a .379 wOBA in the last 30 days against RHP.
Both pitchers won’t get through the fifth inning and both lineups profile extremely well against their opposition, so expect to see plenty of runs early.
