The Vegas Golden Knights face the Montreal Canadiens again on Wednesday night as the Stanley Cup semifinal series continues in Las Vegas. Canadiens winger Cole Caufield has been one of the few forwards generating constant scoring chances for Montreal, firing at least five shots in three of his last four games (including six in Game 1).

Look for the 20-year-old rookie to continue to his heavy shot volume in Game 2 given his expanded role in the offense and increased comfort level in the playoffs. If the trends of the last few games continue, Caufield should see more power-play time and around 16 minutes of game time. Given how aggressive Caufield has been lately in attacking the net, I’m taking the over here.

Vegas is again at -275 to win Game 2 on the moneyline, which is still a bit steep to digest even after winning Game 1. The win in regulation line, however, is a bit more palatable.

While Vegas won by three goals in Game 1, the expectation is that Montreal may be able to keep this game closer on Wednesday night. The Canadiens’ ability to bounce back cannot be overlooked, especially after overcoming a 3-1 deficit against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round.

With the possibility of Jeff Petry returning tonight, the chance of a tighter Game 2 is more likely. Accordingly, take Vegas to win in regulation to play it a bit safer.
