Dalvin Cook 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook

Dalvin Cook was a first-round pick in many fantasy drafts last year and paid off the investment, amassing the second-most fantasy points by a tailback. His 16 rushing touchdowns, 111.2 rushing yards per game, and 1,557 rushing yards were all second among running backs. He also ranked second with 1,918 yards from scrimmage, and would have easily surpassed 2,000 had he not missed two games.

While he’s not the most explosive running back in the world, Cook gets a ton of volume in Minnesota’s run-heavy offense. His 312 rushing attempts and 356 total touches both ranked second in the NFL last year, fueled by his career-high 22.3 rushing attempts per game.

Coming off last year’s monster production, Cook is projected to go second in most fantasy drafts this year after Christian McCaffrey. If Cook stays healthy, it’s certainly possible he could finish the year as the top running back in fantasy. He’s yet to play more than 14 games in a season, so we can only imagine what kind of numbers he’d put up if he played every game.

Dalvin Cook 2021 Fantasy Football Draft Value (PPR)

While Cook is a fantasy beast in all formats, he holds extra value in PPR leagues thanks to his steady work in the passing game. He’s compiled 97 receptions and 880 receiving yards over the past two seasons which, combined with his heavy workload on the ground, makes him extra dangerous in PPR leagues. Cook is a surefire top-3 pick this year.
