Los Angeles Clippers vs Phoenix Suns Playoffs Prediction: 2021 NBA Western Conference Finals Bet Tips & Pick

Last Updated: Jun 21, 2021

Here are The Game Day’s Clippers vs Suns prediction and bet pick for the 2021 NBA Western Conference Finals. After our Clippers vs Suns series preview, check out our 2021 NBA Playoffs Power Rankings & our full 2021 NBA Playoffs Guide.

Despite the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers finishing with two of the top three records in the Western Conference, not many expected this matchup.

The Clippers were a long-time favorite to wind up here, but with their counterpart being their the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers. After losing Kawhi Leonard, however, their getting this far is a massive shock. The same can be said of the Suns, who ended a 10-year playoff drought this season and hadn’t made the Conference Finals since the Steve Nash era.

The series should be filled with narrative as Paul George shed his “Pandemic P" label to lead the Clips to their first-ever Conference Finals appearance, which current Phoenix Sun Chris Paul was unable to achieve during his six seasons with LA.

Los Angeles Clippers vs Phoenix Suns Playoffs Prediction

Phoenix Suns To Win Series In 5 Games

The Clippers fought hard and admirably to get here, but they will be stymied by the loss of Kawhi Leonard along with Phoenix’s overall talent and depth.

It is highly unlikely that Leonard participates in this series despite not having true reports of his injury’s severity. Worst case scenario is a torn ACL, and the seemingly best case is a moderate knee sprain which could keep him out for a month.

Given that the injury occurred around Game 4 of the second round, the earliest Leonard could be available is the 2021 NBA Finals, where LA will have next-to-no shot at competing.

Los Angeles Clippers Round 2 Recap

Wow. There’s no better way to describe the Clippers come-from-behind escape act against the Utah Jazz in Round 2. After Utah took the first two games of the series, Los Angeles roared back to win four straight despite losing Kawhi Leonard after Game 4. In Leonard’s absence, Paul George, Reggie Jackson, Marcus Morris, and unlikely hero Terrance Mann all stepped up to propel the Clips to victory.

If you believe the Clippers will upset the Suns and head to the Finals, BetMGM gives +185 odds on Los Angeles to win the 2021 NBA Western Conference Finals. You can click below to make that wager at BetMGM and sign up to get up to $600 risk-free.

Phoenix Suns Round 2 Recap

The Nuggets really never stood a chance against this powerhouse Suns roster, which is much more complete despite Denver possessing the league MVP in Nikola Jokić. Every starting slot in Phoenix was filled with a quality player who contributed at a high level throughout the series against a depleted, tired Denver roster. That talent differential was apparent as the Suns swept the Nuggets and won the series by a margin of 63 points.

2021 NBA Western Conference Finals Pick

Phoenix Suns To Win Series (-225)

This is probably a steal, to be honest, and looking at the line does not shock me. Given how the Clippers roster will fail to match up against a big like Deandre Ayton — who can actually score in more ways than Rudy Gobert — and with wings like Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder who can halt Paul George, there is maybe a sliver of a shot for LA to eek to the Finals. Take the Suns at this line and expect them to win the series with minimal sweat.
