D.K. Metcalf 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook
Coming off an impressive rookie season in which he turned 58 catches into 900 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, Metcalf emerged as one of the top receivers in the NFL last year. His numbers improved dramatically across the board, as he finished his sophomore campaign with 1,303 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 83 receptions. When the dust settled at the end of the season, he ranked as the sixth-best wide receiver in PPR formats.
Looking ahead to his third season, Metcalf’s outlook appears exceptionally bright. The entire Seattle Seahawks’ offense should benefit from new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, who was formerly the passing-game coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams. After spending four seasons under Rams head coach Sean McVay, Waldron is expected to energize Seattle’s offense with a more aggressive approach that will better suit Russell Wilson’s abilities.
Speaking of Wilson, he’s quickly made Metcalf his No. 1 receiver. There are few better quarterbacks in the league to play for given his accuracy and range downfield, especially for a speedy route-runner like Metcalf.
While expecting another massive leap from Metcalf is likely too optimistic, he still has room for improvement in his third season. With an extra game on the schedule and more aggressive play-calling from Seattle’s coaching staff, Metcalf could approach 1,500 receiving yards and surpass double-digit touchdowns this year, making him an undisputed WR1.
D.K. Metcalf 2021 Fantasy Football Draft Value (PPR)
With preseason fantasy football drafts already underway, fantasy GMs are expecting elite production from Metcalf again this year. He’s currently going in the second round as the fifth receiver off the board, which makes sense given his top-5 potential at the position. While most of the game’s top receivers are established veterans, Metcalf is one of the few with additional upside and room for growth, making him one of the most appealing wideouts in fantasy.
