Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado Avalanche vs. Vegas Golden Knights

Over 1.5 points (+120)

The Colorado Avalanche host the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday night to open their Round 2 clash. Nathan MacKinnon had six goals and three assists in four games in a sweep over the St. Louis Blues. MacKinnon’s shot prop had actually gone off the board briefly and was not worth betting as of press time.

Expect MacKinnon to skate fiercely downhill as he always does. Colorado and their top line want to push the tempo against a potentially tired Vegas team. The +120 number looks quite reasonable given that Vegas just played on Friday night in their Game 7 win over the Minnesota Wild.

Colorado Avalanche (-190) on the moneyline

The number here is so far staying at -190 and though that is not as attractive as one would expect. Understand the fact that Colorado is coming in extremely rested while Vegas is still trying to get healthy. There are still some lingering questions with Max Pacioretty and Shea Theodore — especially as the Round 2 series goes on.

Colorado will have a sense of immense urgency given that they will want to get the jump on Vegas early in the series. This expects to be a long series so any advantage gained will be paramount. It is why taking the moneyline is still a good bet.

Avalanche-Golden Knights Goals Total: Over 5.5 (-110)

So, this could be a challenge, but Game 1 could be a little higher-scoring than usual. Colorado averages a league-best 3.52 goals per game but that number jumped to 3.75 goals per game at home. Vegas scored 3.39 goals per game during the regular season overall. Vegas has had its issues scoring, but with Max Pacioretty in the lineup for Game 7, Vegas scored six times.

Colorado possesses the ability to score at any time with several different lines. Vegas does have balance but mostly at even strength. Even then, with the odds being around even, take the over in a coin flip.

Vegas Golden Knights +1.5 (-165) on the goal line

This is probably a bet to wager the smallest on because one is kind of assuming overtime or a very late third-period goal. That can always be a losing proposition. However, Colorado and Vegas saw five of the seven meetings in the regular season get decided by just one goal.

Again, Vegas should be able to keep this game close enough to pick the Golden Knights at +1.5 goals.
