CeeDee Lamb 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook
The Cowboys’ first-round draft pick in 2020 immediately established himself as one of their top receiving options in his rookie campaign, ranking second on the team in targets behind Amari Cooper with 111. Despite playing most of his first year without Dak Prescott under center, Cooper still finished the year as a WR2, offering hope for an even better season alongside a healthy Prescott in 2021.
Although he showed that he can be productive regardless of his quarterback, Lamb made an immediate connection with Prescott and had his best games before the signal caller went down for the season. With Prescott back in the fold, the 22-year-old should enjoy more consistency this season. After finishing 2020 as a top-24 wide receiver in targets, receptions, and receiving yards, Lamb should post top-20 numbers in those categories with Prescott back.
Accordingly, Lamb is primed to take a big step forward in his second season. Dallas was top-6 in pass attempts and top-4 in pass completions in Prescott’s last complete season (2019), so Lamb should continue to see plenty of targets. While Cooper is still the top receiving threat there, it’s possible that Lamb could match or surpass him this season. Cooper has a history of inconsistency, which could open the door for Lamb to emerge as Prescott’s preferred weapon.
Given that, Lamb has the potential to finish this year as a high-end WR2 or a low-end WR1. He’s a lock for over 100 targets and 1,000 receiving yards, and I like his chances of securing double-digit touchdowns as well. With Cooper, Michael Gallup, and Ezekiel Elliott, the Cowboys should have one of the best offenses in the NFL this year with Lamb playing a primary role.
CeeDee Lamb 2021 Fantasy Football Draft Value
After finishing last year as the WR20 in PPR leagues, I have Lamb moving all the way up to WR10 this year. He’s currently going as the WR17 in fantasy drafts, with most fantasy managers taking him in the fourth or fifth round near established veterans such as Cooper, Mike Evans, and Julio Jones. Given Lamb’s upside as a possible WR1, I’d recommend reaching for him earlier than that earlier in the fourth round or towards the end of the third round.
