Denver Broncos 2021 Schedule, Changes, and Outlook
The Broncos are on the rise, but just how meteoric of a rise remains to be seen. Denver finished the 2020 campaign with a 5-11 record and will look to improve upon that in 2021. Coming off four straight losing seasons, the pressure is on head coach Vic Fangio to turn things around in his third year at the helm.
The Broncos’ biggest move of the offseason was bringing in Teddy Bridgewater to supplement youngster Drew Lock, who led the league in interceptions last year in his first full season. Denver hasn’t enjoyed consistently good quarterback play since Peyton Manning retired after their Super Bowl win at the beginning of 2016, which is the primary reason for their recent struggles.
Denver figures to enter the season with a healthy Courtland Sutton and talented sophomore Jerry Jeudy as their primary wideouts, while tight end Noah Fant took a nice step forward in his second season last year. The Broncos also will look to get some supplementary targets for Tim Patrick, K.J. Hamler, and special teams beast Diontae Spencer.
The running game for the Broncos will be look different this year without Phillip Lindsay in tow. The Broncos will operate with Melvin Gordon III as their lead back, with rookie Javonte Williams and recent signee Mike Boone expected to be in the mix for carries as well. The Broncos have averaged the fifth-fewest points per game in each of the last two seasons, so the offense will really need to step it up this year if Denver’s going to finish with a winning record.
Denver’s defense was a mess last year as well, but Von Miller figures to be healthy heading into the season and could provide a much-needed spark there. He’ll have help from Bradley Chubb and Ronald Darby as well, while first-round draft pick Patrick Surtain II will look to make an impact as well.
The Broncos have one of the easiest schedules to start the season, so it’s imperative that they get off on the right foot this year. They should be able to bank a few wins early on, so if they fail to capitalize on those initial matchups, they’ll be digging themselves an early hole that will be difficult to climb out of.
Broncos 2021 Win Total Bet Pick
Broncos To Win Over 8.5 Games in 2021-2022 NFL Season (-140)
The Broncos can easily grab 9 wins considering the weakness of their schedule. If they see some improvements from their offensive line and avoid the injury bug, they could be in the playoff hunt. This is a team that is on the brink of contention — they just need a few breaks to go their way.
