Cincinnati Bengals 2021 Schedule, Changes, and Outlook
The Bengals started off the 2020 season unsure of what they’d get early on from first overall pick Joe Burrow, who didn’t have the benefit of a normal offseason or any preseason games to get comfortable with his new teammates. The LSU product more than held his own, however, racking up 2,688 passing yards and compiling a 13:5 TD/INT ratio over his first 10 starts before a knee injury prematurely ended his season.
Despite the truncated first year, Burrow gained plenty of valuable game experience and developed critical rapport with wideouts Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins. Burrow will also have a familiar weapon in Ja’Marr Chase, his former college receiver. With Joe Mixon returning to lead the backfield, the Bengals have a solid offensive core in place.
Defense continues to be a problem area for Cincinnati, however, especially up front. The Bengals brought in a host of players this offseason to strengthen the secondary as well as the defensive line, but the best-case scenario will be an average unit for Cincinnati.
The fact that the Bengals play in the AFC North automatically gives them six tough games a year. Cincy was only 1-5 against the division last season, and only one of those losses came after Burrow went down. One could make the case that the Bengals are the most improved team in the AFC North, however, so perhaps their divisional record will improve this year as well.
The key for the Bengals will be capitalizing on games outside of its division. Matchups against the Jets, Jaguars, Broncos, Lions, Bears, and Vikings are all winnable, and Cincinnati is certainly talented enough to pull off some upsets as well.

At first glance, this total looks a bit low considering the type of offensive talent the Bengals will trot out each week. However, a close look at the schedule reveals that it won’t be an easy path for Cincinnati, especially within the division. Nevertheless, there are enough winnable matchups for Zac Taylor’s squad to get at least seven wins over 17 games.
