Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders Fight Bet Tips, Predictions & Picks

Last Updated: May 8, 2021

Adam Kramer brings a special boxing betting picks report for Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders Fight Bet Tips, Predictions & Picks. Don’t miss a section of the action for Canelo-Saunders or any other big event: Read all of our betting picks.

Consider this. On Saturday night, two boxers with a combined record of 85-1-2 (51 KOs) will fight. Yes, that is quite awesome.

One of those boxers is Canelo Alvarez — one of the greatest to ever put on gloves. The other, unbeaten Billy Joe Saunders, wore what appeared to be a bathrobe to the two’s meeting this week and certainly didn’t lack confidence.

Now, on to the Canelo-Saunders bet picks.

The three-belt unification at 168 pounds (Alvarez’s WBC & WBA world super-middleweight titles, plus Saunders’ WBO belt) will be decided in Arlington, Texas, at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders Fight Bet Tips, Predictions & Picks

Alvarez has not lost since September 2013. That loss came at the hands of Floyd Mayweather, and he has uncorked 13 wins and one draw since. In February, Alvarez easily handled Avni Yildirim as a massive -5000 chalk. The fight didn’t make it to the fifth round.

Saunders, according to his trainer, has been working with heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in Las Vegas. Saunders’ last fight came against Martin Murray in December. He won by unanimous decision after 12 rounds.

Saunders (5-foot-11) is taller than Alvarez (5-foot-9), although the reach for both fighters is largely the same. Despite his deep resume of fights, Alvarez is still a year younger than Saunders.

Oh, and there will be fans. Lots of them. The Texas setting in one of sports’ most celebrated venues will provide one of the most unique environments we have seen since the pandemic started.

Canelo vs Saunders Odds To Win

  • Canelo Alvarez (-770)
  • Billy Joe Saunders (+450)

Canelo vs Saunders Picks

While not a (-5000) favorite like in his last fight, Alvarez (-770) can be a bit tough to stomach for a match of this nature. As such, I am looking for value elsewhere in this fight using a few props on PointsBet.

Canelo Alvarez def Billy Joe Saunders by Knockout, TKO, or Disqualification (-135)

Maybe it goes the distance. Maybe. But the bad blood that is brewing in the days leading up to the fight is good by me. I expect action. And I expect Alvarez to assert himself in a way we have seen him do plenty in the past.

Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders Fight Won’t Go the Distance (-121)

Again, I am betting on the way I see the fight playing out. These odds are close, although my reasoning above applies to the fight as a whole.

Canelo Alvarez defeats Billy Joe Saunders In Round 6 (+1400)

Early on, I imagine both fighters will feel their way into the fight. But as they settle in, I could see it becoming more reckless on both sides. These are tough bets to cash but fun bets to make for a fight of this magnitude. Round 6, we’re counting on you.
