The Vegas Golden Knights have a strong claim to being the best team in all of pro hockey. They did end up being the two-seed in the West Division, but it’s tough when you play in the same division as the other team who has a possible claim to being the best in the league — the Colorado Avalanche.
Star right wing Mark Stone posted 61 points for Vegas this season with veteran left wing Max Pacioretty putting up 51 points of his own, leading the team with 24 goals. The Golden Knights also have one of the best goalies in the league in Marc-Andre Fleury who put up a .928 save percentage on the season while allowing just 1.98 goals per game.
Minnesota Wild Season Recap
The Minnesota Wild are simply the inferior team in this scenario. While they are still a very solid, competent hockey team — obviously, you must be to make the playoffs — they are outmatched here. The Wild finished the regular season with 75 points, seven behind the Golden Knights.
Kirill Kaprizov led the team with 27 goals and 51 points as a 23-year-old. This team is very young — five of their top six point total guys were under the age of 30 this season with four of those five being under the age of 25. The Wild have two excellent goalies in veteran Cam Talbot and youngster Kaapo Kahkonen and it will be interesting to see if they go with experience in this situation.

As mentioned, the Golden Knights are an absolute powerhouse of a team and while the Wild are solid, it will take a lot for them to be able to knock out Vegas.
The Golden Knights ended the regular season with the best goal differential in the sport at +67 while the Wild wound up with a decent +21. Vegas is the team with the greater firepower offensively and they have the superior goalie. We know how that usually ends.

As I have hinted at multiple times, I do not believe this series will wind up being particularly close. The Golden Knights should win this handily and a sweep would not be the least bit surprising. Considering the price of -250 for them to win the series, I like placing action on both the 4-0 and 4-1 series prices at +750 and +400 respectively. In this scenario, if one were to occur with one unit on each, the most that could be won would be 6.5 units and the least of 3 units. That’s a lot of upside for a 2 unit laydown.
