Lions 2021 NFL Draft Bet

Once the dust settles on the quarterback rush inside the top four selections, the Lions will be in a prime spot to select an impactful skill position.

Now employing quarterback Jared Goff, the Lions need to find him some playmakers. Notably, Detroit lost Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. in free agency and only added Breshad Perriman and Tyrell Williams.

Obviously, the Lions have more needs than just one pick can solve. Let’s look at some potentially profitable NFL Draft bets for Detroit.

Position of Detroit Lions First Drafted Player: Wide Reciever (+100)

I really could not believe this prop bet had plus odds, even being the betting favorite.

Just about every mock draft you will read has Detroit selecting one of this draft’s top three wideouts, even in trade down scenarios. Ja’Marr Chase is a target here, but he could get swooped up by the Cincinnati Bengals two picks beforehand. Alabama’s Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith are both in play, even in a potential trade down.

Outside of Waddle and Smith, I really cannot think of another player the Lions could address at this selection. Florida tight end Kyle Pitts will likely be gone, and even if he’s not, the Lions have T.J. Hockenson.

Team To Draft Jaylen Waddle: Detroit Lions (+450)

There’s a decent chance that Chase will be gone when the Lions are on the clock, especially with the Bengals and Dolphins drafting in front of them. That leaves Waddle as this draft’s next wide receiver to be drafted.

General manager Brad Holmes has a knack for speed. I surely would not want a foot race against Marvin Jones Jr. and Kenny Golladay. He added Perriman whose 40-yard dash time was 4.25. While Waddle did not run the 40-yard dash in workouts, he once went toe-for-toe in a race with former Alabama teammate Henry Ruggs who ran a 4.27.

Adding Waddle would give Detroit an immediate alpha wideout option for Goff and a prime WR1 for the future.
