Best 2020 Waiver Wire Pickups: The All-Waiver Wire Fantasy Football Team

Last Updated: Jul 14, 2023

Best 2020 Waiver Wire Pickups and Top 2020 Fantasy Football Adds: Every season, no matter how your fantasy football team performs, everyone ends up with a different looking roster than what they drafted. Throughout the year, things change. Players get injured, some guys step up their game, and players that no one ever heard of become relevant.

All season, I have provided you with suggested weekly waiver wire adds. There were a decent amount of players you could have picked up on waivers at any point of the season to help propel your fantasy team to a championship.

The season-long fantasy football season has come to an end. Let’s have some fun and construct an “All-Waiver Wire" fantasy football team. This all-star roster will consist of players that throughout the season, were available on the waiver wire and at some point, mentioned in my weekly waiver wire article with The Game Day.

The All-Waiver Wire team format is QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/WR/TE/Flex. All stats are based on PPR scoring. All roster percentages are based on Yahoo! Fantasy Football.

Best 2020 Waiver Wire Pickups: The All-Waiver Wire Fantasy Football Team

Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End

Quarterback

Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings

Rarely did I mention quarterbacks in my waiver wire article, but by Week 13, I could no longer ignore what Kirk Cousins was doing. His roster percentage at the time was only 40%, and he was crushing it on a weekly basis.

Cousins was a consistent option on the fantasy season as a whole yet was under rostered all year. He threw multiple touchdown passes in all but four games. He threw three touchdowns in seven of those games.

The one negative for Cousins early on was that he threw 10 interceptions in the first six games of the season.

After the Vikings’ Week 7 bye, Cousins would go on and throw just three total interceptions in his next nine games. Kirk Cousins was the QB9 during that nine-game stretch and ended the fantasy football season as the QB11.

If you picked him up and started him at any point of the season, congratulations. If you stuck with him in the fantasy football playoffs (Weeks 14-16), you gave yourself a fighting chance at a championship. In those final three weeks, Kirk Cousins totaled 787 passing yards, six touchdowns, and just one interception. This included a 291-yard, three-touchdown performance in the fantasy championship week!

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears; Philip Rivers, Indianapolis Colts; Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles; Andy Dalton, Dallas Cowboys

Running Back

J.D. McKissic, Washington Football Team

I first mentioned J.D. McKissic in my Week 7 waiver wire article. At the time, he was just 12% rostered. Week 7 was the absolute best time to get him at a value on waivers.

He became a big part of the passing game after the Washington Football Team’s Week 8 bye. McKissic would catch 15 balls on 29 targets in Weeks 9 and 10. He was targeted 10 or more times in five of eight games from Weeks 9-16.

He came through in a big way for fantasy managers in the playoffs. McKissic totaled 285 scrimmage yards and two touchdown receptions while finishing as fantasy’s RB10 across those three important weeks. He totaled 17 receptions in Weeks 15 and 16.

McKissic ended the fantasy football season as the RB15. Not bad for the RB2 on his own team.

Jeff Wilson Jr., San Francisco 49ers

I brought up Jeff Wilson Jr. way back in Week 3. This was before the article was called “waiver wire" instead, it was “Fantasy Football Sleepers". Wilson was 11% rostered at the time.

Now, if you stuck with him all year, kudos to you. Chances are you dropped him after Weeks 4 or 5 after a couple of bust games. Between that and his injured reserve stint, Wilson did have a flashy game in Week 7. He had 17 carries for 112 rush yards and three touchdowns before going on IR.

Jeff Wilson Jr. returned to the field after the 49ers’ Week 11 bye. In his first game back, Wilson was underwhelming, but his fantasy heroics were brewing.

In Week 13, Wilson led the 49ers in rushing, even with Raheem Mostert on the field. He then saw shared opportunities in Week 14 and took over as the lead back midway through the Week 15 game due to an ankle injury to Mostert.

If any of you were reading the tea leaves, you would have seen volume coming for Wilson in the fantasy football championship week. He was a fantasy hero to those who were brave enough to play him in Week 16. Wilson had 183 rush yards on 22 carries and caught a 21-yard touchdown.

Jeff Wilson Jr. is just one of those guys that you would have never thought in a million years he’d be in your championship lineups. If he was, you most likely earned yourself the top prize in your league.

HONORABLE MENTION: Tony Pollard, Dallas Cowboys

Wide Receiver

Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

If you didn’t grab Jefferson off waivers early on, chances are you paid up or missed out on him completely. I first mentioned Justin Jefferson in my Week 4 waiver wire article. He was only 30% rostered at the time.

Justin Jefferson did put up a few dud weeks early on in the season but given his ceiling, he became an every week starter. From Weeks 3-6, he had three games with over 100 receiving yards. He followed the Vikings’ Week 8 bye with a couple of disappointing games but then turned into a consistent WR1.

In the seven games from Weeks 10-16, Justin Jefferson had just one game under double-digit fantasy points. He added three more games with over 100 yards and totaled three touchdowns. He had five games with 10 or more targets and had at least seven catches in four of those games.

You will not find Justin Jefferson on waivers next season. He was the WR4 in the last seven games played and finished the fantasy season as the WR8!

Nelson Agholor, Las Vegas Raiders

I tried over and over this season to tell you about Nelson Agholor. I mentioned Nelson Agholor in multiple waiver wire articles (Week 6 (2% rostered at the time), Week 8 (5%), and Week 10 (24%). There were plenty of opportunities to pick him up on the cheap this year. Sure, he can be frustrating to roster from time to time, but he was productive more than not this season.

The big reason Agholor was found on waivers throughout the year was due to his floor. When he flopped he did so in devastating fashion. Agholor had six games with fewer than nine fantasy points. He had some week-winning games as well.

Nelson Agholor scored more than 20 fantasy points in six games this season. Two of those games came in the fantasy playoffs. In Week 14, he had 100 receiving yards and a touchdown. In championship week, Agholor had his best game of the season when he totaled 155 receiving yards and a touchdown.

If you stuck by him in Week 16, chances are you won your championship!

Cole Beasley, Buffalo Bills

Cole Beasley was a safe option in most weeks of the 2020 season. He had double-digit fantasy points in 10 of 15 games. Very rarely did Beasley have a game that crippled you in your matchups. He wasn’t very flashy but, he got the job done.

He came through for his fantasy managers in the last weeks leading up to the fantasy playoffs scoring 11 or more fantasy points in four of his last six games. This included 3 games with over 100 receiving yards.

Unfortunately, Cole Beasley didn’t show up in Week 16. He caught just three of his five targets for 17 yards. His worst game of the season came at the worst time. Hopefully, Beasley did enough to get you to the championship and you survived his dud performance.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Keke Coutee, Houston Texans; Rashard Higgins, Cleveland Browns; Darnell Mooney, Chicago Bears; Travis Fulgham, Philadelphia Eagles; Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals; Chase Claypool, Pittsburgh Steelers; Tim Patrick, Denver Broncos

Tight End

Logan Thomas, Washington Football Team

In a sea of uncertainty at the tight end position, Logan Thomas provided consistency. I brought him up in my Week 8 waiver wire article and he was only 25% rostered at the time.

Thomas had double-digit fantasy points in eight of his last 10 games. What more could you ask for out of this unreliable position? He showed up big in the playoffs as well. From Weeks 14-16, Logan Thomas combined for 26 catches on 34 targets for 207 receiving yards.

With only two dud games in his final eight, Thomas was an MVP for fantasy managers. He ended the fantasy season as the TE5.

HONORABLE MENTION: Irv Smith, Minnesota Vikings

Flex (RB/WR/TE)

Curtis Samuel, Carolina Panthers

I brought up Curtis Samuel in multiple waiver wire articles including Week 12. He wasn’t the most reliable option at wide receiver in the first half of the season but he turned it on when it mattered most.

Samuel scored more than 12 fantasy points in seven of his last nine games and 20+ points in four of those games.

Most importantly, Curtis Samuel crushed it in the championship. He caught all five of his targets for 106 receiving yards and added seven carries for an additional 52 yards. Congratulations if you played him in Week 16.
