The 2024 MLB season is well underway, so be sure to check in on this page for our MLB Power Rankings.
These rankings will account for current performance along with projections for the rest of the season. You can think of them as a hierarchy of each team in MLB at this stage of the year, but remember — it’s not just going to be an order of each team’s record — that’s what standings are for.
So without further ado, let’s get right into our 2024 MLB Power Rankings.
MLB Power Rankings are current as of April 15 from DraftKings Sportsbook.

MLB Power Rankings: Moving Up
2. New York Yankees
The Yankees have won 12 of their first 16 games despite playing without Gerrit Cole.
Juan Soto has fit in like a glove, Anthony Volpe is breaking out, and Carlos Rodon is bouncing back.
Suddenly, this team looks like the class of the American League. If Cole can come back and regain his form for this year, we’ve got ourselves a World Series contender.
8. Milwaukee Brewers
Despite trading ace Corbin Burnes, the Brewers have gotten off to a 10-4 start.
Milwaukee is getting excellent pitching from Freddy Peralta, while their bats have been scorching hot to start off the year.
While I can’t see the Brewers contending for a title this year, it’s clear that their offense was underrated, which could help them remain in the playoff mix.
16. Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates have won 11 of their first 16 games, which is impressive considering their low projections coming into the year.
Rookie flame-thrower Jared Jones has been fantastic, while stud prospect Paul Skenes will bolster the rotation once recalled from the minors.
The lineup will likely improve as the season goes along, especially with Oneil Cruz off to a slow start. This team may not be as bad as anticipated.
MLB Power Rankings: Moving Down
4. Atlanta Braves
The Braves are off to a 9-5 start, but I have to move them down because they lost ace Spencer Strider for the season.
That puts a lot of pressure on Max Fried and Chris Sale, especially with Charlie Morton getting up there in age.
While the offense remains as good as it gets, I’m a bit skeptical that this pitching will be good enough to carry Atlanta past the Dodgers.
7. Houston Astros
The Astros have stumbled to a 6-11 start, which bumps them down to seventh in these ranks.
Houston’s pitching has performed well below expectations, especially second-year starter Hunter Brown. The team badly needs Justin Verlander to come back and get somewhat back to previous form.
Having said that, I have to keep the Astros in the top 10 considering their lengthy track record of success in recent years.
14. Seattle Mariners
The Mariners are struggling right now at 6-10, but this rotation is as good as any in the league.
Even with Luis Castillo and George Kirby getting off to slow starts, there’s still Logan Gilbert and Bryce Miller, not to mention Bryan Woo returning soon.
Once Julio Rodriguez snaps out of his April funk, we could see this team soar, which is why they remain in the top 15.
