Stanley Cup Best Bet 2024
Boston Bruins (+1100)
WAGER: 1 unit • BetMGM Sportsbook
The Bruins are getting overlooked with (+1100) odds to win the Stanley Cup.
This is a well-balanced team that features high-end talent up front (David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand), depth on the blueline (Charlie McAvoy, Hampus Lindholm), and strong goaltending (Jeremy Swayman, Linus Ullmark).
Boston won the President’s Trophy last season, but fell short in the first round after getting eliminated by the Panthers.
I’m projecting a much better effort in the playoffs this time around.
This situation reminds me of when the top-seeded Lightning lost to the Blue Jackets in Round 1 back in 2019, only to win the Stanley Cup in the following season.
At (+1100) odds, the Bruins look like a nice value in our NHL bet of the day.
Stanley Cup Contender 2024
Colorado Avalanche (+900)
WAGER: 0.5 units • bet365 Sportsbook
The Avalanche come at a nice price at (+900) odds to win the Stanley Cup.
Colorado is more dangerous this year because Nathan MacKinnon is at top form this season, putting up career-highs across the board.
Add in generational defensemen Cale Makar along with winger Mikko Rantanen and you have the top-end talent required to make a deep post-season run.
The Avs did well at the trade deadline to add depth at center, bringing in Casey Mittelstadt, who can help out with the team’s secondary scoring.
Colorado led the NHL in goals scored this season, so they’re going to be tough to slow down in the playoffs.
The main question is goaltending, where Alexandar Georgiev is coming off a disappointing season. If the former Ranger can get back on track, then look out.
Stanley Cup Sleeper 2024
Los Angeles Kings (+2800)
WAGER: 0.25 units • bet365 Sportsbook
The Kings are my favorite Stanley Cup sleepers with longshot odds at (+2800).
This is a team that has had a disappointing season, but they’ve done a good job keeping the puck out of the net, allowing the fourth-fewest goals this year.
Los Angeles has balanced scoring with Anze Kopitar, Adrian Kempe, and Kevin Fiala. There’s a lot of size on this team, including breakout forward Quinton Byfield.
The Kings have two centers who can excel defensively with Pierre-Luc Dubois and Phillip Danault, which is great news in a Western Conference that includes Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon.
This is likely going to be a frustrating team to play against, especially if Cam Talbot can get it done in goal.
At (+2800) odds, the Kings look worth a sprinkle to win the Stanley Cup.
