Lamar Jackson 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook

Jackson is coming off a disappointing season where he finished as QB9 in fantasy points per game despite being ranked as the consensus top fantasy quarterback during the preseason. The Ravens as a whole struggled for much of the year to find their offensive rhythm before getting hot towards the end of the year, as Jackson tallied 15 touchdowns over his final five regular-season games to propel Baltimore back to the playoffs.

With an improved supporting cast and change in scheme, Jackson looks poised for a bounce-back season. He’ll have considerably more talent around him this year with the likes of Sammy Watkins and Rashod Bateman joining holdovers Marquise Brown and Mark Andrews. The Ravens also plan to be more balanced on offense, which should result in more passing and less rushing for Jackson.

So while Jackson likely won’t top 1,000 rushing yards for the third straight year, he’ll still likely end up with about 700-800 in that category and remain the league’s top rushing QB. The improved weapons and emphasis on passing should get him back over 3,000 passing yards and 30 passing touchdowns after he fell shy of both last year.

While the increased passing volume won’t outweigh the declining rushing volume, it will make Baltimore’s offense more dangerous and less predictable, which could open up some running holes for Jackson to exploit. It will also reduce his injury risk by eliminating his number of collisions with defenders. Jackson’s statistical profile is going to change a bit, but he’s still one of the NFL’s best dual-threat quarterbacks and will get fantasy managers tons of points, either through the air or on the ground.

Lamar Jackson 2021 Fantasy Football Draft Value (PPR)

Playing in a revamped offense, Jackson has what is arguably the best supporting cast of his career this year. While the reduction in rushing may prevent him from reclaiming his title as fantasy’s top quarterback, he remains in an elite tier with dynamic signal callers such as Josh Allen, Kyler Murray, and Russell Wilson. Look for Jackson to split the difference between his 2019 and 2020 campaigns and finish as a top-five quarterback, making him worth another significant investment on draft day.
