MLB Betting Props of the Day: Best Baseball Prop Picks Today 6/16/21
Aaron Civale, Cleveland Indians vs. Baltimore Orioles (7:10 p.m. ET)

Civale has been on fire over his last six starts with a 36:5 K/BB ratio, which includes a brutal start against Toronto on May 30th. If you remove that start, his K/BB ratio is an even more impressive 35:4 with an average of seven whiffs per start.
The Orioles have the highest strikeout rate in baseball (32.6%) against right-handed pitchers on the road in the last 30 days. Their offense has also been anemic lately, as they’re coming off six straight losses in which they scored just 13 total runs.
Accordingly, the Indians are a strong home favorite tonight at -165. Baltimore’s Keegan Akin is a pretty weak opposing pitcher, which should help Cleveland put runs on the board for Civale and allow him to pitch deeper into the game.
The 5.5 strikeout prop is reflecting Civale’s body of work from last year and April of this year, so we’re getting it at a great value with plus odds here. I think the prop line should be 6.5, and I have Civale projected at 7.3 strikeouts tonight.
Anthony DeSclafani, San Francisco Giants vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (9:45 p.m. ET)
Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-105)
Wager: 1 unit
DeSclafani is in a great spot tonight at home against the free-falling Diamondbacks, who are 6-36 and averaging 3.62 runs per game since the beginning of May. The Giants are favored at -171, which still feels low given that they have the NL’s top record at 42-25.
While we are not betting against the moneyline here, these numbers all add up to a favorable matchup for DeSclafani, who also benefits from San Francisco’s pitching-friendly home park where he has a 9.3 K/9 rate this season. DeSclafani is averaging 5.1 strikeouts per start and has already hurled two complete games this year, so he’ll be in a prime spot to go deep into this game and rack up some strikeouts.
My projections have Arizona as the fourth-weakest lineup on the evening slate, and I’m projecting DeScalafani for 5.8 strikeouts tonight.
