Tottenham vs. Leeds Premier League Match Preview
On Monday, May 11, we’ll see Tottenham and Leeds square off for the first time since way back in October when Tottenham got the 2-1 win. In that match, Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus scored for Tottenham while Noah Okaford scored for Leeds.
At FanDuel Sportsbook, Tottenham is a -130 home favorite while Leeds is a +300 road underdog.
This is an important match as Leeds is 14th in the standings and Tottenham is 17th. Thankfully for Tottenham, West Ham, who are just below them at 18th, are taking on Arsenal this weekend, so this could provide some breathing room potentially.
As for Leeds, they have a six-point lead over Tottenham and have played well recently.
We’ll see if Tottenham can fend off landing in the relegation zone at home against Leeds in my preview below.
Tottenham Preview
This season, Tottenham is 9-10-16 across 35 matches. They’ve scored 45 goals and allowed 54. Those 45 goals are 11th in the Premier League, while the 54 they’ve allowed is fourth-most.
That said, their offense has gotten a bit lucky, as their xGA is 41.75, a 3.25 difference. That’s the biggest discrepancy in the entire Premier League. At the same time, their xGA is 52.36.
Overall, their xPTS is 43.5, which is certainly encouraging, but they have just 37 points, which is why they’re on the brink of the relegation zone.
Their leading scorer is Richarlison with 10 goals, followed by Micky van de Ven, Joao Palhinha, and Cristian Romero, who each have four.
Tottenham has won its last two matches, taking down Aston Villa and Wolverhampton.
Unfortunately for them, though, they have a massive injury report with Dominic Solanke and Guglielmo Vicario listed as questionable and Ben Davies, Mohammed Kudus, Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert, Cristian Romero, and Xavi Simons listed as out.
That will be a lot to overcome.
Predicted Lineup: Destiny Udogie, Kevin Danso, Pedro Porro, Mathys Tel, Richarlison, Antonin Kinsky, Micky van de Ven, Rodrigo Betancur, Joao Palhinha, Conor Gallagher, Randal Kolo Muani.
Leeds Preview
Leeds heads into this match with three wins and two ties over their last five Premier League bouts. Over that stretch, they took down Burnley, Wolverhampton, and Manchester United.
Overall, they’re 10-13-12 with 47 goals (10th), 52 goals allowed (tied for fifth-most), and 43 points. They have an xG of 55.2, xGA of 49.87, and an xPTS of 53.53.
Based on this, their offense and defense should be playing better, and if they had 53 points, they’d be on the verge of the top five.
So, based on those metrics, Leeds has shown a lot of potential but has underperformed drastically.
Their injury report consists of two players: Ilia Gruev and Gabriel Gudmundsson.
Predicted Lineup: Karl Darlow, Jaka Bijol, Joe Rodon, James Justin, Ao Tanaka, Ethan Ampadu, Jayden Bogle, Anton Stach, Noah Okafor, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Pascal Struijk.
Leeds vs. Tottenham Prediction
At +300, Leeds has significant value. They’ve been underperforming, but here, they’re taking on a Tottenham offense that’s been a tad lucky and is littered with injuries.
I’ll take a chance on Leeds to get the win, putting Tottenham in a tough spot. They have to hope West Ham struggles against Arsenal.
