Roland Garros Odds for Men 2026 Who is the Favourite Now?

We will be denied another thrilling Alcaraz-Sinner final at Roland Garros after the Spaniard was forced to withdraw from the tournament with a wrist injury - and now Jannik Sinner has been eliminated in one of the biggest shocks in men’s tennis history.

So who is the bookmakers’ favourite now?

French Open Tennis Odds for Male Draw

In the absence of Carlos Alcaraz, the odds heavily favoured Jannik Sinner. Bookmakers had him as heavy as a 1/4 favourite as we progressed through the early stages of the tournament.

But then Sinner was knocked out by Juan Manuel Cerundolo in a stunning 3-6 2-6 7-5 6-1 6-1 comeback victory.

The other players in the running to win the French Open include Alexander Zverev, who is arguably one of the best tennis players to have never won a Grand Slam. Zverev will be hungry to change that, and bookies had him as the 2nd or 3rd choice after Sinner - he’s now the favourite.

Novak Djokovic is somehow still up there, not just in the running but the second-favourite according to most bookmakers. Again, depending on which bookie you choose, you can get odds of 7/2 on a Djokovic win. Those who have seen the legend in action down the years might fancy that bet, especially with Sinner gone.

Other outside contenders include Rafael Jodar and Casper Ruud. Odds vary dramatically between bookmakers on these options. While it would be a tall order for either to take the crown, it may be worth making an outside bet.

Of course, we should also consider the man who knocked Sinner out. What are the odds on Juan Manuel Cerundolo going all the way? Well, here’s an important note if you want to bet on Sinner’s vanquisher - Juan Manuel Cerundolo is a massive outsider at odds as long as 300/1. His older brother, Francisco Cerundolo, is ranked much higher by most bookies, so be careful who you’re betting on!

Why Was Sinner Such a Heavy Favourite?

Sinner had seemed largely untroubled at Roland Garros so far, dropping just eight games in the first round against Clement Tabur. With the obvious exception of an ageing Novak Djokovic, Sinner is the only player of the new generation who has consistently shown that he can tough it out in the later rounds, so it made perfect sense that he was the bookies’ heavy favourite.

Furthermore, four-time Grand Slam winner Sinner has yet to win the French Open, but this owes a lot to the clay-court dominance of Alcaraz. With the Spaniard out this year, Sinner will be anguished to have failed to earn his first win, although a player of his calibre will recognise that the true test will be winning Roland Garros with his great rival fit to play.

His loss is a massive shock and has blown the odds wide open.

Who Could Be the Finalists Now?

One side of the bracket is stacked, including both Zverev and Djokovic. This side also features Jodar or Ruud, as they occupy the lower half of the bracket. This means that the top half of the bracket is wide, wide open with Sinner gone.

With Daniil Medvedev also suffering a shock exit in the top half of the bracket, this could be a real chance for an outsider to make the final.
