Pros and cons of using XRP
- Super-fast transaction speeds
- Nominal gas fees applied
- Widely accepted at crypto casinos
- Can be challenging to understand
Sending an online XRP payment
There are one or two extra steps needed to make payments with XRP compared to some other cryptocurrencies. In this part of my guide I’ll explain what’s required.
Assuming you already have a compatible crypto wallet, the first thing you will need to do is add some XRP to your wallet. This is important, because until you have done this part, you won’t be able to use XRP to make purchases, or fund your account at an online casino with Ripple listed. The minimum you can add at a time is 1 XRP incidentally.
You’ll then need to obtain three pieces of information from the recipient and enter them in your wallet:
- The payee’s wallet address: This is sometimes shown as a scannable QR code, but more often as a long string of numbers, letters, and special characters.
- Payment amount: The amount you need to pay may be shown, otherwise you’ll need to enter it manually. Note that the amount is shown in fiat currency, which will be converted to XRP automatically.
- Destination tag: This is a reference number that you may need to use for certain payments, which ensures the payment is directed to the correct account.
Make sure that you check all of the information carefully, and once you’re satisfied, confirm the payment. In most cases, your payment will arrive within just a few seconds.
Using XRP at an online crypto casino
Not every crypto casino accepts Ripple. In addition, at some sites you can use XRP to make deposits, but they don’t support withdrawals. That’s definitely something you’ll need to establish in advance if XRP is your cryptocurrency of choice.
The process is very similar to to the one I described earlier for making payments with XRP:
- To make a deposit you’ll need to be logged into your account first.
- Click on the ‘Deposit’ link and select XRP from the list
- Copy the casino’s wallet address, or scan the QR code
- Enter the amount you want to deposit
At this point you may also need to copy the destination tag. This is required when you deposit using cryptocurrencies at Roobet, for example, but not at all sites. After that, you simply open your crypto wallet, add the required information and send the payment.
If you are using a casino that does support XRP withdrawals, the process follows almost the same format, you are simply requesting funds to be directed from the casino’s wallet to your own.
No additional verification is needed to use XRP as a payment method
There are no verification processes directly related to using any type of cryptocurrency. It’s completely irrelevant whether you’re using Litecoin at a casino, or XRP. However, there are two potential situations where you may need to verify your ID.
- When you initially set up your crypto wallet
- When you open a casino account
Crypto wallet verification
While decentralized crypto wallets can be set up anonymously, if you opt to use a wallet via a company like Revolut, or a crypto exchange, both will require you to complete a formal KYC process. This will require you to upload a copy of your photo ID e.g. passport or driving license, as a minimum.
Casino verification
Again, this is not implemented by all crypto casinos. If you want to use cryptocurrencies at Shuffle for instance, as it’s a decentralized brand, you won’t need to undergo KYC. If ID verification is a deal-breaker for you, I recommend doing some further research on the topic.
Exploring the background of Ripple and its assets
I’ll start straight off with a table that provides a quick overview and description of the various assets associated with the Ripple name.
| What you will see | What it is |
| Ripple Labs | The company that owns XRP |
| XRP | The native token associated with Ripple Labs |
| XRPL | The blockchain ledger where XRP transactions are completed and recorded |
| Ripple.com | A company that operates as a blockchain payment provider |
| Ripple USD (RSULD) | A stablecoin pegged 1:1 to USD |
To make things a little clearer, a crypto casino that accepts Ripple is one that accepts payments made with XRP. The fact that the two names are used synonymously doesn’t help, nor does the fact that RSULD is another Ripple coin, albeit one you can ignore, because it has an entirely different purpose to XRP.
Where XRP started and its purpose
Going as far back as 2011, software developers Arthur Britto, David Schwartz, and Jed Caleb started working on a project they described as “Bitcoin without mining”. The project initially involved development of the XRP Ledger, followed by the creation of 100 billion XRP tokens in 2012.
XRPL and the XRP token subsequently became the responsibility of a company titled Ripple Labs, in homage to the fact that its originators planned to cause ‘ripples’ in the banking and financial sectors.
As shown in the table above, Ripple has since branched out into other areas of blockchain payments, which are intended for commercial use, but XRP, and its dedicated XRPL blockchain network remain as one of the fastest and cheapest crypto options.
How does Ripple/XRP fare against other cryptocurrencies?
The way that Ripple Labs has set up its native XRP token, you can only use the XRPL network to send and receive payments. While this has the benefit of exceptionally low gas fees, it also comes with limitations.
Some crypto casinos don’t offer XRP as an option for this reason, while others allow deposits using XRP, but not withdrawals. Conversely, all crypto casinos accept Ethereum, as there are several different blockchain networks available for transactions.
Other cryptocurrencies enjoy even more flexibility. The USDT stablecoin aka Tether being the most flexible as it can be sent or received across 13 different networks, and it also has the advantage of low volatility.
Three recommended crypto casinos where Ripple is available
Despite the slight inconveniences associated with Ripple/XRP, I have listed three of the best crypto gambling sites where it is available as a payment option.
Stake.com - best all round crypto casino and sportsbook
Although the exact number of cryptocurrencies varies slightly by region, Stake.com supports around 20, including XRP. In addition, the brand also supports payments made with fiat currency using its on-ramp MoonPay portal.
By using the link on our page banners to go to Stake.com, you can claim a 200% matched deposit welcome bonus worth up to $2,000. Just make sure that you use our exclusive promo code during registration.
Once you’ve funded your account, you’ll be able to bet on about 30 sports, and enjoy up to 6,000 casino games (exact numbers are region dependent) which include everything from slots, to poker, live dealer tables, and game shows. You’ll also find sections for Stake Exclusives, which are not available on any other site, and the awesome Stake Originals provably fair instant win titles.
Shuffle - another fantastic dual purpose crypto gambling site
Shuffle: Pros and Cons
- Enormous collection of 5,000 casino games
- Competitive betting odds on over 35 sports
- Impressive signup bonus worth up to $1,000
- Somewhat thin selection of regular promos
Shuffle is the second of my recommended global crypto brands. Unlike Stake.com you will find that Shuffle’s welcome offer varies by region, but the correct offer for your location will be displayed on the banners of this page.
But to give you an idea of Shuffle’s generosity, where I live I was able to claim a 100% matched deposit bonus worth up to $1,000 when I signed up for an account. Shuffle’s offering also meets expectations with about 6,000 assorted casino games listed in the games lobby, and betting markets for 35 sports.
You’ll find up to 22 cryptos listed, and you will be able to make deposits and withdrawals using XRP, which is great news. Furthermore, Shuffle has two on-site portals, Swapped and MoonPay, for those who prefer to stick with using fiat currency.
Gamdom - another massive crypto gambling site
Gamdom: Pros and Cons
- 8,500 games by over 60 providers
- Instant or near-instant crypto withdrawals
- Option to bet on sports, esports, and racing
- A unique Slots Arena for slot battles
- 10+ Originals with 100% RTPs
- No native Gamdom app
- No phone support
Gamdom is another solid crypto gambling site, which accepts up to 25 cryptos in some regions, and includes XRP. The brand also facilitates fiat payments via Swapped, where you can fund your account with around 10 different payment types, including ewallets in some locations.
For my region, Gamdom’s welcome offer consists of a 15% rakeback deal for seven days following registration, which is applicable to all site activity. If the offer available is different where you are, you’ll see it on our page banners.
Gamdom offers as many as 8,500 casino games in most regions, which include an excellent selection of slots, table games, live casino options, instant win games, scratchcards and more. For those who like betting on sports, you’ll find up to 45 sports available, and literally thousands of betting markets.
Three important facts about Ripple/XRP
I’ve already mentioned a fair bit about Ripple and its native XRP token, but these are the main points to keep in mind if you are considering using it as a payment method to fund your casino account.
- Ripple and XRP tend to be used synonymously, and typically refer to the cryptocurrency. However, Ripple is actually the company that created the XRP token, and the XRPL ledger it uses.
- As XRP can only be used on Ripple’s XRPL blockchain network, it isn’t listed as a n option at all crypto gambling sites. In other cases, while you can make deposits using XRP, you won’t always be able to make withdrawals.
- In a similar way, not all crypto wallets support XRP, so you will have fewer options to choose from when it comes to decentralized wallets, and may need to opt for a crypto exchange wallet instead, which will require you to undergo KYC checks.
XRP comes with certain limitations
As you’ve seen from the information provided in my guide, using XRP allows for exceptionally fast transactions, and incurs very low gas fees. However, as it can only be used on one blockchain network, which is Ripple’s XRPL, it isn’t as widely available at crypto casinos.
Nevertheless, I found three fantastic crypto gambling sites for you to consider, all of which support XRP for both deposits and withdrawals. It’s tough to make a choice between Stake.com, Gamdom, and Shuffle, as all three offer generous bonuses and an excellent all round experience. Should you want to explore any, or all of these sites, feel free to use the links provided on the banners of this page.

Casinos with Ripple FAQs
🔄 Is Ripple and XRP the same thing?
Despite the two names being used interchangeably by crypto casinos, they are not the same thing. Ripple is the name of the company that created the crypto token called XRP, and also the XRPL blockchain network it uses.
💡 What are the benefits of using XRP?
Ripple Labs developed the native token called XRP with the intention of speeding up cryptocurrency transactions, and reducing gas fees. Both have been achieved successfully, as most XRP transactions are completed within 5 seconds, and because all payments use the XRPL network only, gas fees are exceptionally low.
🤔 Is Ripple a good cryptocurrency to use?
While using XRP has advantages, including low gas fees, it also has a few limitations. It isn’t supported by all crypto wallets, and it isn’t always listed as an option by crypto gambling sites.
