NFL DFS Best Picks Week 2 – PrizePicks Lineups & Sleepers

Last Updated: Jul 14, 2023

An all-NFC East Thursday Night Football matchup was surprisingly exciting, so here’s hoping this sets the tone for what we can expect from the rest of NFL Week 2.

As always, raising the stakes for yourself can make all of these games that much more exciting. Whether it’s sports betting or Daily Fantasy Sports, having some exposure to some of the more “boring" matchups will make your NFL Sunday that much better.

If you’re looking for a way to combine the fun of betting and fantasy, PrizePicks may be the perfect site for you. Unlike the typical salary cap lineup construction format that most DFS sites follow, PrizePicks allow users a new way to play fantasy.

At PrizePicks, users select player props to pick over or under in a specific category. These picks a strung together in a parlay. Users can pick up to five props. Of course, selecting more props leads to a higher multiplier on the entry fee.

What is great about PrizePicks is that they give another option in addition to the all-or-nothing parlay style we usually see. There is a selection called Flex Play, which allows users to win even with missed picks, though it lowers the potential payout for perfect picks.

In the Flex Play format, users can pick up to five props for a max of a 10x payout for getting them all correctly. There are smaller payouts at four and three correct. Power Play is the all-or-nothing style, which pays out 10x for four correct picks, 5x for three correct picks and 3x for going two-for-two.

Now that you understand how PrizePicks works, let’s get into the DFS football predictions series for Week 2!

Stat information for NFL DFS Week 2 picks are current as of Friday, September 17, at 9 a.m. ET.

NFL DFS Week 2: Single-Stat Daily Fantasy Sports

With the single-stat game format, users will pick over or under for a player’s performance in a single stat. Users can string picks together across different games and sports.

Derek Carr, QB, Las Vegas Raiders

Under 1.5 Passing TDs

The Raiders are coming off an overtime win on Monday Night Football, so it is a short week for them. On top of that, they will travel to the east coast for an early game against the Steelers.

This Pittsburgh defense is coming off a dominating performance in which they shut down Josh Allen and the Bills. Derek Carr is coming off a two-touchdown performance, with his second touchdown being the easiest walk-off score in overtime. It’s going to be much tougher for him this week, as the Steelers will limit the big plays and bring the heat.

The Raiders are also a team that likes to run the ball when they get in close. So, with the big play being taken away, this means it could be tough for Carr to throw for multiple scores again this week. The Steelers don’t need to run a zero blitz to get pressure, unlike the Ravens.

Mike Williams, WR, Los Angeles Chargers

Over 56.5 Receiving Yards

This week, the Chargers face off against a Cowboys defense that just lost their top pass rusher, DeMarcus Lawrence. Clearly, this is good for the Chargers’ passing offense, and this game currently is tied for the highest projected total of the week at 54.5 points.

Last week, Williams finished the game hauling in 8 of his 12 targets for 82 yards and a touchdown. Over the course of his career, Williams has averaged 9.41 yards per target. At the prop line of 56.5 yards, this means he needs about six targets to hit our goal.

Considering that is half of what Williams saw last week, this seems like one of the safer picks of this Week 2 slate.

Derek Carr, QB, Las Vegas Raiders

Derek Carr had a standout performance in the Raiders’ Week 1 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, but will he be able to have the same success against the Pittsburgh Steelers?

Mike Evans, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Over 54.5 Receiving Yards

Those who own Mike Evans is season-long fantasy leagues were disappointed last week, as he finished with just 24 yards. Evans had some tough games early last season as well. In fact, he posted just 2 yards in his first and third games.

What did he do in games two and four? He had receiving totals of 104 and 122, respectively. Tom Brady will look to keep him involved this week in a great matchup.

Evans has also done quite well against the Atlanta Falcons in his career, going over this yardage prop in eight of his last 10 games against them.

NFL DFS Week 2: Fantasy Score Game

The Fantasy Score Game format follows the same concept as the Single-Stat Game. However, instead of picking a player’s performance in a stat category, users will pick over or under a player’s fantasy point total. For NFL DFS, PrizePicks follows a PPR scoring format.

Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills

Over 23.5 Fantasy Points

It was a tough Week 1 for Josh Allen, but it was also a really tough matchup. While the Miami Dolphins have a tough defense, it is not the same as the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Last week, the Steelers uncharacteristically didn’t blitz, but it’s because they didn’t need to. They still got pressure while dropping players in coverage, shutting down Allen. Miami’s defensive front won’t be able to do the same.

We should all expect Allen and the Bills to respond this week. The last time he played in Miami, he threw for 415 yards and four touchdowns. He threw for another three touchdowns at home against the Dolphins last season.

David Johnson, RB, Houston Texans

Over 6.5 Fantasy Points

It was Mark Ingram that surprised us all in Week 1, as he carried the ball 26 times. However, he played just eight passing down snaps, while David Johnson led the backfield in this area with 17.

It seems safe to assume the Texans will not be leading from start to finish against the Browns this week. So, with the Texans likely chasing points and passing more, Johnson should see his snaps and usage rise. Despite the small workload last week, Johnson still scored 11.8 fantasy points, thanks to a touchdown.

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, San Francisco 49ers

Under 9.0 Fantasy Points

In August, general manager John Lynch said Brandon Aiyuk was “going through some things" and he wasn’t happy about where he was at. It is now September, and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan essentially just did the same.

Aiyuk saw less than half of the snaps in Week 1 and didn’t see a single target. Considering he is also not 100% healthy, we can safely pick the under here.
