Jonathan Taylor 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook
A second-round draft pick in 2020, Taylor was immediately thrust into a starting role with the Colts after Marlon Mack suffered a torn Achilles in Week 1. The 21-year-old proved up to the challenge, rushing for over 100 yards in his first career start and putting together an impressive rookie campaign. Taylor only got better as the season went along, scoring 8 total touchdowns and racking up 651 rushing yards over his final five regular-season games.
While Mack re-signed in the offseason, Taylor will lead Indy’s backfield again in 2021 as he looks to build off his strong debut. Taylor has already proven himself to be one of the most talented pure runners in football, and now he has a full year of experience under his belt. The Colts’ offense should also be more explosive this year with Carson Wentz replacing Philip Rivers under center, which would benefit Taylor as well.
Taylor may lose some carries to Mack and targets to Nyheim Hines, but neither are significant threats to his fantasy value. He’s clearly established himself as the best player on Indy’s offense and should end up as the focal point there, especially on a team without an alpha WR1. With high volume and touchdown equity, the sky is the limit for Taylor in 2021 behind a solid offensive line and an upgraded quarterback.

Jonathan Taylor 2021 Fantasy Football Draft Value (PPR)
After finishing as a top-10 running back last year, Taylor could absolutely be a top-5 tailback this year. If Taylor picks up where he left off, he’ll once again be a driving force for the Colts’ offense. He profiles as an RB1 with upside based on his rushing volume and steady work in the passing game, making him a likely second-round pick in fantasy drafts this year.
